Saturday 21st June saw Thespianage Productions return to the King’s Arms in Salford for our first full-length preview of Sketch Appeal. And we SOLD OUT!
It was great to be back at this lovely venue following our debut appearance at Embryo 83 in April. This time, we were performing all our sketches in the more intimate Studio One, which, at full capacity on a hot summer’s day, was like being held between the palms of a very sweaty giant. As Paddy put it, it’s an unwritten rule of theatre that if you can’t make an audience laugh – you boil them slowly to death. Not wanting to take any chances we decided to do both!
From a flying Superhero start to smarmy banker soliloquies, a headless Jane Doe and a brush with Death – not forgetting Detective Inspector Platypus’ solo to air piano – the show flew by with plenty of laughs and without anyone fainting from heat exhaustion…
Having received loads of positive audience feedback and watched the recording (“do we really sound like that?!”) we’re gearing up for our next show in a 100 seat theatre…
Watch out Birmingham, we’re coming!
